Q

How could you use an acid - base titration to produce a soluble salt?

A

Carry out an acid base titration to find out how much solution is required to neutralise 25cm3 of solution, then carry this out again in a conical flask without adding indicator. Evaporate using an evaporating basin

Q

How could you use an acid and insoluble base (metal oxide) to make a water soluble salt?

A
  1. In a beaker combine warm excess insoluble base with dilute acid.
  2. Warm and stir until all the acid has reacted (using indicator paper)
  3. Filter the excess base and transfer the filtrate to a clean, dry evaporating basin.
  4. Heat until salt crystals begin to form
