Bed
This is a small bed specifically for infants and very young child.
Cot
These are used in housekeeping include everything from kitchen tablecloths at home to surgical masks in a hospital and to beddings at a hotel. These are made from various plant fibers and materials, each with distinctive properties. This term can be used to refer to pieces such as towels and blankets and also to the fabric itself.
Linen
These include table cloth, table skirt, silence cloth, table runners, table napkin, placemat, dishcloth, apron, hand, and tea towels. Silence or hush cloths are flannel cloths that go underneath the formal cloth to soften the noise when beverage ware and flatware hit the table.
Kitchen and Dining Linens
These are often called ‘bedding’. This type can refer strictly to sheet sets or be expanded to incorporate all fabric products utilized in the bedroom.

It is a decorative fabric covering that does not touch the floor and normally does not cover the pillows.
Coverlet
t is similar to a coverlet a thin, decorative covering but it normally covers the entire bed and touches the floor.
Bedspread
It is a small covering normally found at the foot of a bed used for extra warmth or decorative accents.
Blanket or Throw
It is a bed cover stuffed with fibers or down then sewed together at all four sides. It can be decorative and come in many different colors, patterns, and designs. It is normally used as a major decorative element in bedrooms.
Comforter
It is similar to a comforter except that it requires the use of a duvet cover, where a comforter does not.
Duvet
It is used over a comforter or duvet. It will have an opening where the comforter or duvet is inserted, once placed inside, its opening is closed with buttons. This is normally a decorative covering, of which the basic function is to add décor to your bedroom.
Duvet cover
It is a large decorative square pillow that sits back against the headboard.
Euro or Continental Pillow
It is a medium-sized rectangular pillow that you lay your head on when sleeping. This pillow can come in many sizes such as standard, Queen, or King to fit your bed or sleeping habits.
Sleeping Pillow
It is also referred to as an accent or throw pillow, is a small pillow that comes in many shapes, sizes, and colors to add decoration to a bed.
Decorative Pillow
It is a tubular pillow used to lean back against for lumbar support, but typically it is used as a decorative pillow or accent pillow. These pillows range in size from very small to some that span the entire width of the bed.
Bolster Pillow
It is used to cover a sleeping pillow and sometimes decorative or bolster pillows. It is normally a rectangular shape with an opening on one end where you insert the pillow.
Pillowcase
It is similar to a pillowcase but it does not open on one side, instead it has a flange, which is an extra piece of fabric that extends from where the pillow sham is sewn on each edge.
Pillow sham
It is decorative piece of bedding placed between the mattress and box springs. It extends to the floor and its main function is to hide the box spring as well as add decor. These are commonly used with coverlets, duvets, and comforter sets.
Bed skirt
This includes bath towel and bath sheet. A bath sheet is an extra-large bath towel that is wrapped around the body after getting out of the shower.

(1) Gather your bed linens. The type and quantity of linens you use depends on the style of the room and the bed. However, most include the following
- mattress pad with elastic edging
- fitted sheet
- flat sheet
- pillowcases blanket
- quilt, comforter or duvet
- 2 standard pillow shams
What step is this on how to make bed?
Remove used linens. Take off the used linens and put them the laundry. Shake out any mattress pads, pillow protectors, and comforters that do not need to be laundered. If you use a bed skirt and it needs to be laundered, remove and replace it.
