Critical Update: Addresses a critical bug
Definition Update: has additions for a products database
Security Update: A fix for a security bug within a specific program
Update: Update for a bug - not critical nor security related
Service Pack: A collection of hotfixes, updates and patches. May contain design changes.
Feature Pack: New product functionality added after the release date.
Driver: software to control the input and output of a device.
Tool: Utility or feature to help with a task.

Firmware updates often improve the stability of a device.

Why would you manage computer updates?
To ensure the quality of an update. Managers can time updates too, ensuring they are not going to disturb working people.
