Strategy for approaching main point questions

How do you identify the main point an argument that has multiple conclusions
- determine the logical structure of the argument
- identify which one is the main
conclusion and which one is the
subsidiary conclusion using the “conclusion Identification methodology”.
*if you have conclusion A & B,
arrange A as the conclusion and B as the premise; does this make sense?
if it doesnt , swap it.*
Types of incorrect answers in main point questions
- Answers that are true but do not encapsulate the author’s point.
- Answers that repeat premises of the argument.
Strategy for answering “main point - fill in the blank” questions
Some Fill in the Blank questions are simply Main Point questions in disguise.
In order to achieve this goal,
you must read the stimulus for clues revealing the direction of the argument and** the author’s intent.**
Another clue in answer choice is if each stem starts with a “conclusion indicator”
When stuck between 2 or more options what strategy can you use?
