Rules and decisions made by the government to shape how schools and the education system work
Explain tripartite (triangle, apart) system
Students took 11+ exam and went to either grammar, secondary modern or technical school
The aim - give students education based on ability
Unfair to wc students mc students had better access to grammar school

Got rid of tripartite system so all students go same school regarding ability
Reduce class division
Some schools still grouped students by ability (streaming)

Introduced foster, sats schools had to compete for students
To improve school standards and give parents more choice
Mc family benefited most, could move to better schools
Explain new labour policy system what do they help people (uni) with in education
Helped disadvantaged students with money for staying in education
Make education fairer for poor students
Helped some but uni fees were expensive
