Where are the wines grown?
On the hillsides in small plots called POIOS or terraces all around the coast of the island.
Some of wines are grown on trellises similar to those for Vinho Verde.
This way allowes other crops to be grown below them since this is a vulcanic island and there is a shortage of cultivative land.

Higher quality wines that are put in casks and placed near the roofs of wine storage rooms where is sunny for a period of 18 months and moved then to cooler parts of the building
