Increasing age
Smoking
Ischaemic CV disease
Family history

What are the two forms of ARMD?
A
Dry - atrophy of the macula with drusen
Wet - blood vessels grow up beneath the retina

What is the presentation of ARMD?
A
Bilateral, painless, gradual decrease in visual acuity
Particularly for near field object
Difficulties in dark adaptation
Straight lines appear wavy

What are the management options for dry ARMD?
A
Refer to Ophth within 1 week to exclude wet
Smoking cessation
Zinc and anti-oxidants (A,C,E)

A
Anti-VEGF
Laser photocoagulation
