What are the features of non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy?
A
Micro-anerysm - can rupture to form blot haemorrhages
Hard exudates (leak of lipids and proteins)
Soft exudates/cotton wool spots (areas of infarct)

What are the features of prolierative diabetic retinopathy?
A
Formation of new abnormal blood vessels

What is meant by diabetic maculopathy?
A
Any changes affecting the fovea/macula
Cause changes in vision eg blurring or decreased visual acuity
