Macromolecules Flashcards
Macromolecules
biological molecules that make cellular structure and function as possible
Macromolecules
Carbonhydrate
Proteins
Lipids (fats)
Nucelic Acid
Cardonhydrates
Made up cardon, hydrogen, and oxygen
Tag lipids and proteins which helps immunse function, cellular communication and allows for cells to attach to the necessary extracellular material
Found In: Fruits Veggies, milk, and grains
3 classes of carbonhydrate
Monosaccharide
Disaccharide
Polysaccharide
Monosaccharide
most basic form of carbonhydrate and cannot be broken doen into simple sugar
Usuable for living organism that include: Glucose, Galatose, and Frutose
Disaccharide
Made up of two monosaccharide
Sucrose, maltose, and lactose
Polysaccharide
Composed of long chain of Monosaccharides
Starch and Glycogen
Protein
made up of chains of polypeptides ( Amino Acid ) and are connected by peptide bonds
3 types of proteins
Fibrous Protein - Structural protein
Globular Protein - Funtional Protein
Membrane Protein - Interactive Protein
Fibrous Protein -
Structural protein, Lengthy, narrow chains and are used for structure purposes
Example: Fibrin, Actin, Myosin, Elastin, Keratin, and Collagen
Globular Protein
Dense and round shape
Irregular sequence of amino acids and they are less durable in terms of temperature pH changes
