Every organization has numerous software bots that perform all kinds of automated tasks: backups, deployments, monitoring, etc. All of those bots are written by developers, who are humans, and they make mistakes. If a bot gets hacked via a cross-site scripting or SQL injection or supply chain attack, it becomes a springboard for pivoting.
