essential elements of infra Flashcards

Q

The first is connectivity

A

The first is connectivity. If access can come from anywhere, and compute can happen anywhere, we need to be able to securely connect to any resource on the planet, regardless of network boundaries.

The next is authentication. We need identity-based authentication for engineers and machines so we know exactly who or what is accessing each resource.

Once we know who or what is accessing, we need authorization. We need fine-grained access controls so that we can explicitly define what a human or machine user can do and that those privileges are automatically enforced.

Finally, we need robust auditing. Who or what accessed each resource? When was it accessed? And what was done?

Without unifying these four elements of access, your systems will be vulnerable to attack, and the productivity of your team will be compromised.
