Macbeth
A hero who becomes obsessed with his status after he hears the witches prophecy. He represents how greed and power often corrupts people.
Lady Macbeth
Macbeth’s wife. She is a greedy and manipulative woman who persuades her husband into killing Duncan, but won’t actually do any of the dirty work herself.
Duncan
The original King of Scotland who was killed by Macbeth . Representation of order and leadership. When he dies all order is lost
Malcom
Duncan’s son who fled after his fathers death
Donalbain
Duncan’s son and Malcoms brother: Fled with malcom
The Murderers
Men that Macbeth chose to kill Banquo. They were persuaded by Macbeth when he explained that `
The Witches
At the beginning of the story they told Macbeth and Banquo of the prophecy. Said that Macbeth would be king and Banquo’s sons would rule.
Macduff
Nobleman to Duncan who’s family is killed by macbeth after the witches warn him to beware Macduff. He is the one who discovers Duncan’s body and also the Bloody Baby
Lady Macduff
She and her children are killed by Macbeth’s troops after Macbeth panics for his life. Innocent lives taken out of panic
Fleance
Banquo’s son who was supposed to be killed but escaped the murders. Important because the prophecy said that Banquo’s lineage would take the throne
Hecate
The goddess of witchcraft and ruler of the witches. Excluded from the meetings with macbeth
Banquo
Best friend of Macbeth who was said to have lineage of kings following him. Killed by macbeth’s murderers, but his son flank escaped. His spirit haunted macbeth after his death
Doctor
The doctor is the one who diagnoses Lady Macbeth as insane. He knows that something is going on within the household but stays quiet and works to “cure” Lady Macbeth
