Napoleon
The “dictator” figure of the Animal Farm. Took over for Old Major and developed a communist society. Compares to Russia’s Stalin
Mollie
The show horse that cares about ribbons and awards. Represents materialism and vanity.
Moses
Speaks to the animals of Sugar Candy Mountain (a heaven type place filled with happiness). Represents the religious figure- gives them hope
Snowball
One of the original Animal Farm leaders, but overthrown by Napoleon. Shows that force overpowers good intentions.
Squealer
Works as a leader of propaganda. Persuades the animals to thinking that Napoleon is doing everything for the good of the pigs. Manipulation with words.
Benjamin
Donkey who is unenthusiastic about the revolution. Is a pessimist but also a realist. Sees life for what it really is.
Boxer
Old horse who overworks himself and devoted to the rebellion. Reflection of a person who has to follow a leader and is naive to what is really going on.
Mr. Jones
Drunkard who originally owned Animal Farm, but was overthrown by the animals. Represents tyranny and rebellion.
Mr. Pilkington
The owner of neighboring farm: Ally of Napoleon. There is underlying tension between them but they have similar desires and need each other to succeed
Old Major
Pig who came up with the original plan to revolt. The inspirational figure to all animals who only saw the negatives of man and not the positives.
Communism
Equal distribution of wealth, work, etc.
Socialism
similar to communism; not as extreme
Capitalism
You get what you work for and can do whatever you want with the money

Came up with Marxism- socialism/ equality
