Q

Why did the United States government make it a priority to force Native American children into boarding schools?

A

The United States government wanted to remove conflicting Indian traditions and beliefs. They felt it was important for everyone living in the United States to believe, act, dress, and live in a similar fashion–that being the way European-Americans did.
