Distances to be kept from interfering objects
High tension power lines and electronic equipment: 150m
Railroad tracks, tanks and trucks: 75m
Vehicles: 50m
Barbed wire: 30m
Mortars and telegraph wire: 25m
Helmets and so forth: 10m
Criteria for choosing a declination station
The point chosen for the declination station must have a view of at least two distant, well defined points with a well known grid azimuth.
Use of the aiming circle
That aiming circle is used to measure as a math and elevation angles with respect to a preselected baseline
