Lysosomal Diseases Flashcards
1
Q
(Lysosomal Disease) Type Ia
A
Van Gierke Disease
- deficiency in glucose-6-phosphatase –> severe fasting hypoglycemia
- hepato/renomegaly, lactic acidemia, hyperuricemia
2
Q
(Lysosomal Disease) Type II
A
Pompe disease
- deficiency in acid alpha glucosidase (lysosomal enzyme) that cataolizes glycogen brought to lysosomes
- cardiomegaly, muscle weakness
3
Q
(Lysosomal Disease) Type III
A
Cori disease
- issue with the debranching enzyme
- limit dextrinosis
- may cause liver fibrosis
- accumulated glycogen has abnormal structure
4
Q
(Lysosomal Disease) Type IV
A
Anderson Disease (Amylopectinosis)
- issue with liver branching enzyme
- progressive hepatomegaly
5
Q
(Lysosomal Disease) Type V
A
McArdle Disease
- muscle phosphorylase problem
- exercise intolerance and muscle cramps
- blood lactate won’t rise after anaerobic exercise
6
Q
(Lysosomal Disease) Type VI
A
Hers disease
- liver phosphorylase
- hepatomegaly
- benign in general
- mild fasting hypoglycemia
7
Q
(Lysosomal Disease) Type VII
A
Tarui disease
- muscle PFK-1
- similar to McArdle but more severe
