What does the Lymphatic System Include?
Lymph Vessels and Organs
What type of lymphocytes are there?
T & B lymphocytes
What are the 3 Major Extracellular Fluids?
- Blood Plasma
- ISF (interstitial fluid)
- Lymph
How is ISF formed?
formed by capillaries leaking plasma
Where is the lymph fluid transported relative to tissue
AWAY from tissue
Where are the right lymphatic ducts located?
- Right Head
- Chest
- Arm
Where does right lymphatic duct drain so it can re enter the blood?
Right subclavian vein
Where does the thoracic duct drain?
Drains lymph into LEFT subclavian vein
What is the cisterna chyli the beginning of?
Thoracic duct
`What is the one way route back to the blood?
Lymphatic cappillaries->Lymphatic collecting vessels -> Lymphatic Ducts -> subclavian veins
What are the primary lymphatic organs and tissue?
- Red Bone Marrow
- Thymus Gland
Where do the lymphocytes arise from initially?
In the Fetus as lymphoid stem cells
Where do the B lymphocytes remain?
In Red bone Marrow
What is contained within the thymus gland?
T Lymphocytes
What are the secondary lymphatic organs?
- Lymph Nodes
- Spleen
- Mucosal Associated Lymphoid Tissue (MALT)
