Lymphatic System Flashcards

1
Q

Q

Explain about lymphatic vessels

A

They are thin walled vessels
Run along side blood vessels
Fluid moves due to muscle and joint movement

lymph vessels have numerous cup shaped powers to ensure that live flows in a one-way system towards the thorax

Lymph vessels become larger as they are joined together

A

lymph nodes have an outer capsule of fibrous tissue

The main substance made of is reticular and lymphatic tissue

Lymphatic tissue consists of lymphocytes and macrophages

Their function is to help with the defence of the body, and macrophages and antibodies help destroy bacteria and ingested microbes
