What is haematopoiesis
The production of all of the cellular components of blood and blood plasma. Occurs during embryonic development throughout adulthood to produce and replenish the blood system.
Explain the differences in red and yellow bone marrow in adults and children
when there is an infant below one year old, their entire body consists of red bone marrow. Red bone marrow is responsible for producing blood cells: haematopoiesis
an adult has both yellow and red bone marrow.
An adult has red bone marrow in the centre of the body from the top of the head cutting off at the arms and cutting off just underneath the pelvis.
There is yellow bone marrow located in extremities such as the legs and the arms for adults
Yellow bone marrow stores fat
Name the three blood vessels
Arteries, veins, capillaries
What is An artery
blood vessel that delivers oxygen rich blood, from the heart to the tissues of the body
What is a vein
Blood vessel that carries blood towards the heart from the body cells tissues and organs
