A
  • lymph is the tissue fluid that leaks out of the blood capillaries and bathes the cells in the interstitial spaces
  • similar in composition to plasma in blood
  • clear to straw coloured fluid
  • in the lacteals its cloudy due to fat presence

  • return excess tissue fluid to the circulation
  • filter pathogens out of the fluid within the lymph nodes
  • to produce mature lymphocytes and antibodies
