LYMPHATIC Flashcards
1
Q
what is hydrostatic pressure?
A
the force that drives fluid transport between capillaries and tissues- so the nutrients can get to the tissues.
2
Q
what is COP (capillary oncotic pressure)?
A
force pulling fluid back into the capillaries and/or prevent fluid from leaving- so we don’t get oedema.
3
Q
what do lymph vessels do?
A
transport lymph fluid which contains lymphocytes, macrophages and antigens and collect excess fluid from body tissues
4
Q
what is lymph fluid?
A
fluid that contains infection fighting WBC
5
Q
what are lymph nodes?
A
nodes that filter lymph, look for antigens and use macrophages and lymphocytes to destroy antigens
