smoking, radon, workplace chemicals, air pollution, genetics, radiation therapy, other lung disease

small cell and non-small cell
what do non-small cell cancers include?
squamous cell carcinomas, large cell and adenocarcinoma
what is the most common lung cancer?
squamous cell carcinoma
what are the signs and symptoms of lung tumours?
cough, haemoptysis (blood stained spit), pneumonia, metastasis
why is the outcome of lung cancer poor?
due to the delayed diagnosis
what is stage 1 of lung cancer?
one lesion
what is stage 2
multiple lesions on one side of the thorax
what is stage 3
lesions on both sides of thorax
what is stage 4
lesions on both sides and signs of oedema or fluid or pneumonia
what is the treatment of non-small cell cancer?
chemoradiotherapy to maximise life

before diagnosis use smoking cessation advice
what is sleep apnoea?
airway obstruction while sleeping
why do sleep apnoea patients have increased MI risk?
low oxygen
what are the types of sleep apnoea?
obstructive sleep apnoea and central sleep apnoea
