epithelial lined cyst with keratin after obstruction of sebaceous duct
what is a neurofibroma?
benign nerve sheath tumour arising from schwann cells
what is a papilloma?
growth of all layers of skin with a central blood supply
what is a pyogenic granuloma?
rapidly growing capillary hemangioma
what is a Dermoid cyst?
epidermal lined cyst deep to the skin
what is a keratocanthoma?
benign overgrowth of hair cells
what is seborrhoeic keratosis?
hyperplasia of basal cell layers = brown wart
what is a goitre?
swelling of thyroid gland
What are the borders of the inguinal canal?
Anterior = Aponeurosis of external oblique
Posterior = transversalis fascia
Roof = arching fibres of transversus abdominis, transversalis fascia, internal oblique
Floor = inguinal ligament
What are the contents of the inguinal canal?
Men = ilioinguinal nerve and spermatic cord
Women = ilioinguinal nerve and round ligament
Where does the direct inguinal hernia arise from?
Hesselbach’s triangle:
medial wall = rectus abdominis muscle
lateral wall = inferior epigastric artery (branch of external iliac artery = branch of common iliac a.)
inferior wall = inguinal ligament
