- Spontaneously in patients with osteoporosis, neoplastic or metabolic disorders of spine

- X-ray first choice
- CT if nothing found on x-ray

MANAGEMENT
General principles
A
- ABCDE approach
- Immobilisation
- Analgesia - morphine primary option
- Definitive treatment of fracture surgically or non-surgically
- Percutaneous treatment (vertebroplasty) if osteoporotic origin

- Surgical decompression and surgical stabilisation with rods and screws
