Trendelenburg Test
. When patient standing
. Identifies hip abductor weakness that creates imbalance in pelvic girdle that affects spine
. Patient bears full weight on one leg and lift other off floor
. Pos. Test: hip abductors on weight bearing side are unable to maintain level pelvis and hip goes into adduction and pelvis tilts to non-weight bearing side
Trendelenburg gait
. Gait abnormality
. During single leg stance phase of gait cycle the hip abductors are responsible for maintaining level pelvis
. Patients will have hip drop or lean their trunk to side of weak hip abductors
T/F if patients has positive pelvis side shift test also do trendelenburg test
T, hip abductors normally weak on side of PSS
