What is Degenerative Joint Disease?
A
- It is Arthritis!
Other Common Names:
* Facet Syndrome
* Spondylosis

What is stenosis?
A
- Narrowing of a canal (intervertebral foramen or central)
- Sometime Ligamentum Flavum will show up on imaging being called stenosis; this is normal with aging not a concern

What is Spondylolisthesis?
A
- Forward slippage of one vertebrae on another
- Causes: Stress Fx, Congenital Pars Defect, Trauma
- Common Sports: Football/linemen, competitive divers, gymnastics

What is Ankylosis Spondylitis?
A
- Loss of general mobility through ROM, becomes fused over time
- Goal: Maintain mobility

What is the goal of a pathoanatomical model?
A
- Label a specific pain-generator

What is disc degeneration?
A
- Shrinkage of the disc and water loss
- X Ray: Healthy Disc - White (Fills with water); Unhealthy - Dark (dried out)

What should we do as PT’s with pathoanatomical Dx’s?
A
- Take a glance but that’s it!
- Need to do an exam and based off of that address impairments!
