First day of the spring offensive, 20000 soldiers killed, 35000 wounded and 21000 taken prisoner, biggest breakthrough for 3 years
Germans unstoppable or not?
Pushed over 60km, regained region of River Somme. HOWEVER, they had lost over 220000 men and soon were going to run out of men
Problems arriving?
First Americans began arriving, stormtroopers gone too far and out of reach of supplies

Salient in German front lines meaning they were now getting attacked from multiple directions

15 July, troops only advanced 2 miles before running out of supplies and the entire spring offensive ended in disaster with 500000 German troops dead and allies able to launch their own attack
