Q

explain the case of HM as support?

A

helps distinguish between procedural and declarative memories .HM ability to form new LTM memories was affected by the destruction of his hippocampus .After surgery , it was find he could form new procedural LTM memories but not episodic or semantic ones .For example he was able to learn how to mirror draw but could not remember learning it (Corkin 2002)

Q

how does altzeimers support distinguishing between semantic and episodic memories ?

A

Hodges and patterson (2007) found some patients retain the ability to form episodic memories but not semantic ones
