What is performance profiling?
Using a range of techniques to review performance, identify and analyse strength and weaknesses. It identifies which areas an athlete needs to focus on to achieve optimum performance

Intrinsic motivation - internal drives linked to feelings of pride and satisfaction
Extrinsic motivation - external rewards or other people. Performers may be motivated by the money of winning a championship
Achievement motivation - the drive to succeed or persist with training or a long term goal

Nach and Naf

What is learned helplessness?
When performers suffer a series of defeats or poor performances, they may feel defeat is inevitable, and the result of stable, internal factors
What is the best way to correct learned helplessness?
Attribution retraining
What long term psychological strategies can be used to develop skills and tactics? Explain each briefly
Visualisation - this also allows athletes to train when injured or resting
Using mental rehearsal to construct a plan of actions and tactics
Use visual awareness training - training the eyes and lt memory to better recognise patterns of play and pick up relative cues
What are the two dimensions of group cohesion?
Task cohesion

Forming - creation of the group
Storming - identifying roles and allocating tasks
Norming - developing cohesion, rules and standards agreed

Environmental - use training camps - all players given equal importance and praise
Personal - all members share ownership of the group - break up any cliques within the group
Leadership - use a mixture of leadership styles - be aware of each players needs
Team - use team goals and planning - clear roles for every team member
