When our moralsrestrains are loosened after media exposure to violence. therefore, aggressive behaviour becomes normalised, especially when in response to a wrongdoing. This type of aggression has greater inhibitory effects on consequential aggressive behaviour

Bandura proposed we learn aggression through observing role models, however as children grow the media will have a greater role in this. When aggression is normalised in role models the child can grow up with norms that think aggression is socially acceptable, which can be extra powerful if violence is rewarded e.g. computer games.

Disinhibition has led to the American Army using games as a recruiting tool, recruiting individulas with an interest in violence and aggression and a disinhibited response to aggression is beneficial for future soldiers, as an aggressive response is likely to be the norm, if this wasn’t the case their survival could be threatened.
