- Branches to the back of the thigh and leg
Sciatic nerve
REMEMBER: actually two separate nerves contained within one sheath
1) Tibial (L4-S3)
2) Common peroneal (L4-S2)
Tibial nerve
L4-S3
- Articular branches
* knee joint - Muscular branches

- lateral 1.5 toes
Common peroneal nerve
L4-S2
Prior to branching:
- articular branches (knee joint)
- cutaneous branches (calf)
- muscular branch (biceps femoris)
- Deep peroneal (anterior tibial nerve)
- Superficial peroneal (musculocutaneous) nerve
Pudendal nerve
S2-S4
- Inferior rectal nerve

- muscular branches
- Dorsal nerve of the penis/clitoris
Visceral branches of lumbosacral plexus (pelvic splanchnic nerves)
S2-S4
preganglionic parasympathetics supplying the bladder, penis, clitoris, testes, ovaries, uterine tubes, uterus, transverse/descending/sigmoid colon
Muscular branches of lumbosacral plexus
S4
- levator ani, coccygeus, sphincter ani externus
Coccygeal plexus
S4, S5, coccygeal nerves
- supply skin in region of the coccyx
