LOWER LIMB MUSCLES: POSTERIOR THIGH Flashcards
Which nerves innervate the biceps femoris?
Long head done by tibial portion of sciatic nerve and Short head done by common fibular portion of sciatic nerve
Which blood vessels supply the biceps femoris?
profunda femoris artery
Where is the origin of the biceps femoris?
Long head - ischial tuberoisty & ascrotuberous ligament
Short head - lateral lip of linea aspera & lateral intermuscular septum
Where is the insertion of the biceps femoris?
head of fibula and the lateral condyle of the tibia
What is the function of the biceps femoris?
extends the thigh, flexs the leg and a lateral rotator of the thigh and leg
Which nerves innervate the semi-membranosus?
sciatic nerve
Which blood vessels supply the semi-membranosus?
perforating branches of the profunda femoris artery and branches of the popliteal artery
Where is the origin of the semi-membranosus?
superolateral facet of the ischial tuberosity
Where is the insertion of the semi-membranosus?
posteromedial surface of the medial condyle of the tibia
What is the function of the semi-membranosus?
extends the thigh and flexes the leg and medially rotates the leg and thigh
Which nerves innervate the semi-tendinosus?
sciatic nerve (L4,5 and S1-3)
Which blood vessels supply the semi-tendinosus?
perforating branches of the profunda femoris artery and branches of the popliteal artery
Where is the origin of the semi-tendinosus?
superomedial aspect of ischial tuberosity
Where is the insertion of the semi-tendinosus?
superomedial surface of the tibia
What is the function of the semi-tendinosus?
