Introduction

Inspect lower limbs with them on the bed
Walking - on heels on tip toes tandems gait

PRONATOR FOR UPPER
ROMBERGS AND GAIT (IF ASKED) FOR LOWER
Gait -
Walk normal
Heel to heel
have a good look

Rombergs modified
Close eyes, feet together and put hands supinated in front of them. Put arms round them to be there if they fall. Should maintain balance

Tone (legs go floppy…) get them on the bed for this one
- roll knee
- pick up knee briskly and put it back down
- lift leg and hold ankle, rolling it around
- ankle clonus!! Roll in circular motions and then keep it there for 3 seconds

Power
Hip (flex/ext/abd/add)
- hip extension (lift leg up straight slightly, push down)
- hip flexion (same thing but put hand underside)
- hip abduction/adduction (put hands between thighs… and push them together. put hands on outside…and push them apart)

Knee (flex/ext)
Bend knee
“put your ankle towards your bottom and stop me straightening”
“and kick out against me”

Ankle flexion and extension and inversion and eversion
“bring toes towards you” and “push down against my hand”

Big toe
flexion and extension

REFLEXES 4:
Knee,
ankle (out to side),
ankle clonus
babinski (neuro tip along foot),
Leg go floppy, bend knee for them by grabbing and
ankle clonus if forgot!! after you keep rolling ankle around, flex the ankle upwards quickly and keep it there for 3 seconds under tension

Coordination
Heel to shin test

Sensation - soft touch (cotton wool or finger)
inside of thigh patella inside of calf middle toe outside of foot
“does that feel the same on both sides”

Vibration
put on inside of big toe

Proprioception
do big toe
