“now if you could put your arms out straight for me like this, and if you could close your eyes. I’m going to push down on your arms on either side, just try to keep your arms up for me”

Tone in arms
Assess for tone (hypotonia is noted in cerebellar disease)
“im just going to move your arm around now, if you let me just take the weight and go floppy, have you got any pain at all”

Reflex knee (hyporeflexia)
-knee reflex (get them on the bed and dangle their knee)

Heel to shin test
“if you coud just swing your legs round on the bed. if oyu could place this heel on the front of your knee for me, and run it down the front of your leg… lift it up and bring it back to the knee… and keep doing that.”

“today i completed a cerebellar exam on…
on assessment of the gait, there was no evidence of a broad based ataxic gait. there was no loss of coordination of the truncal limbs and no evidence of nystagmus in the eyes. this was a normal cerebellar examination.
