Low Visibility Procedures Flashcards
How is LVTO defined?
Means a take-off with less than 550 meters RVR
When would an autoland warning light trigger?
ALL BELOW 200ft WITH AT LEAST 1 AP & LAND/FLARE
- LOC deviation 1/4 dot + A/C above 15ft RA
- GLIDE deviation 1 dot + A/C above 100ft RA
- Loss of LOC above 15ft RA
- RA difference is greater than 15ft
- Last AP disengages
- FMGS detects long flare
- FMGS detects untimely flare
What is the difference between a fail-operational and fail-passive system?
FAIL-OPERATIONAL failure below AH (100’), approach, flare & landing completed automatically.
FAIL-PASSIVE AP will disconnect with no significant out of trim but landing will not be automatic. Pilot MUST assume control and land if visual references allow and is safe to do so.
On a autoland, what happens below 1000’ with regards to aircraft status and task-sharing?
- 1000’ fully configured and stable
- 800’ LANDING INHIBIT (inhibits some warnings/cautions
- 700’ FMGC data lock
- 500’ STABLE
- 400’ FCU lock
- 350’ LAND FMA
- 200’ AUTOLAND RED light active
- 100’ CALL “ONE HUNDRED” reply “CONTINUE”
- 40’ FLARE FMA
- 30’ THR IDLE FMA
- 10’ ROLLOUT
What is the lowest minima for a normal CATII approach?
DH 100’
RVR >300 m
Is a Special Authorization CATII approach possible in SAS Connect?
SAS Connect is not approved to conduct special authorization CAT 1 / CAT 2 approaches.
What is the lowest minima for a CATIII approach?
Fail-operational: DH 0’ / RVR >75 m (CAT 3 DUAL)
Fail-passive: DH 50’ / RVR >175 m (CAT 3 SINGLE)
What is the lowest minima for a CATII approach with manual landing?
Same as a normal CATII approach with automatic landing
DH 100’
RVR >300 m
What is the minimum disconnect height of AP on a CAT II Manual landing?
Min A/P disconnect: 80 ft
What is recommended use of autobrakes on a low viz landing?
LO recommended for normal operations
MEDIUM recommended for short or contaminated runways
What are the wind limitations for autoland (all engines operating)?
Headwind 30
Crosswind 20
Tailwind 10
(they are the same regardless of CAT3/CAT2/CAT2SA/CAT2 Manual)
What are the wind limitations for autoland (single engine)?
If relying on auto-rollout: Crosswind 15 (only difference to all engines operating)
What is the lowest RVR for a LVTO?
125 m
What is required for a LVTO with 125 meters? (the lowest RVR)
HI RCLL max 15 m spacing
HI REDL max 60 m spacing
Multiple RVR
What is the requirement for RVR in the 2nd and 3rd segment? (if reported and relevant)
2nd: 75 meters (or 125 m if AP not used for rollout)
3rd: 75 meters
