Q

When would an autoland warning light trigger?

A

ALL BELOW 200ft WITH AT LEAST 1 AP & LAND/FLARE

  • LOC deviation 1/4 dot + A/C above 15ft RA
  • GLIDE deviation 1 dot + A/C above 100ft RA
  • Loss of LOC above 15ft RA
  • RA difference is greater than 15ft
  • Last AP disengages
  • FMGS detects long flare
  • FMGS detects untimely flare

Q

What is the difference between a fail-operational and fail-passive system?

A

FAIL-OPERATIONAL failure below AH (100’), approach, flare & landing completed automatically.

FAIL-PASSIVE AP will disconnect with no significant out of trim but landing will not be automatic. Pilot MUST assume control and land if visual references allow and is safe to do so.

17
Q

What is considered a Type A instrument approach?

A

Instrument approach operation with MDH or DH at or above 250 ft

18
Q

What is considered a Type B instrument approach?

A

Instrument approach operation with DH below 200 ft. For example CATI/CATII/CATIII
