What are entry conditions for Loss of HPI pump section of Loss of Reactor coolant makeup AOP?
What are major actions are initially taken for loss of HPI pump?
1) Isolate L/D
2) Check proper seal cooling (If not adequate perform RCP motor emergencies simultaneous loss of SI and Seal cooling).
3) Close SI and MU valves and evaluate suction pressure to determine if loss of suction was indicated.
What actions are taken if loss of pump suction was indicated?
1) Ensure CV-1275 (MU tank outlet) open.
2) If CV-1275 was open then batch at least 600 gallons of current RCS boron concentration to MU tank.
What steps are taken for restoration of makeup and seal injection?
1) Vent pump through makeup pump vent if needed.
2) Check suction pressure > 10 psig.
3) Start HPI pump and restore SI, MU and then L/D.
How is seal injection performed?
1) If seal bleedoff and seal temps less than or equal to 180 deg F, then over 2 minutes open cv-1207 to 32 - 40 gpm and place in auto. CV-1206 to normal.
2) If temps > 180 deg F, then open CV-1207 to 8 - 12 gpm over 2 min and hold for 30 min. Restore L/D per RT-13. After 30 minutes restore SI flow to 32 - 40 gpm over 2 minutes and return to auto.
What are entry conditions for large MU and Pur leak section?
What are indications of loss of HPI suction?
What conditions being met would require isolation of letdown?
1) Leakage greater than normal makeup capacity (50 gpm)
2) CRS desires
3) HPI Pump stopped
What actions are taken if leak is downstream of HPI pump or can not maintain MU tank > 55”?
1) Stop HPI Pump
2) Check RCP seals being cooled by ICW
3) If mu tank level continues to drop close CV-1275.
What major actions are taken for large MU&P Leak?
1) Isolate L/D (> 50 gpm)
2) Stop HPI pump and isolate leakage
3) When isolated, ensure MU tank outlet open and batch makeup to MU tank to maintain > 55”.
4) Close CV-1207/1235
5) Restart available HPI pump once leak is isolated.
6) Restore SI based on less than or greater than 180 deg F.
What actions are taken if rad levels prohibit leak isolation?
1) Open BWST Outlet for ES HPI Pump
2) Operate ES HPI Pump and associated block valve (CV-1220/1285) to maintain inventory.
What actions are taken if normal makeup is not in service following restoration?
1) Stop any batching operation that is in progress
2) Stop any chem addition in progress (Zinc, LiOH, etc)
What actions are taken in attachment A for aligning the ES HPI Pump?
1) Open the suction and discharge crosstie valves
2) Close and lock the suction and discharge crossties for the failed HPI pump.
