Q

What is the significance of the title?

A

The lord of the flies is the head of the pig on a stick covered in flies. It is Beelzebub in Greek which means the prince of demons. The lord of the flies represents the evil that lies in all man. The pigs head rotting represents the rot and decay of the society of the boys on the island. When Simon sees that there is no beast and the lord of the flies is the evil growing in all them he goes to tell the boys but they kill him thinking he is the beast
