What is a loose ball foul?
A personal foul, neither flagrant or punching, committed while there is no team control.
How is a loose ball foul administered? (4)
1 offending team charged with team foul
2 offended player charged with personal foul
3 offended team gets ball sideline nearest spot to where play was interrupted (no penalty situation)
4 offended team gets 1 ft plus penalty ft (if penalty situation)
How are the officials administering a loose ball foul against the defensive team that is followed by a successful field goal? When does this interpretation apply?
1 FT for the offended player - allowing a 3 pt or 4 pt play. Interpretation applies regardless of which offensive player gets fouled and whether or not penalty situation exists, the ball can NEVER be awarded to the scoring team OOB following a personal foul which occurs on the same play.
How would you administer a “loose ball” foul against the defensive team that is followed by a successful field goal?
One free-throw attempt will be awarded to the offended player allowing for a three point or four-point play
Can the ball be awarded to the scoring team out of bounds following a personal foul which occurs on the same play?
No, never. Whether the team is in the penalty or not.

1 free throw awarded to offended player whether or not penalty is in effect
Can points be scored if a “loose ball” foul is called against the offensive team following a successful field goal attempt?
