Q

Name some key examples of long term causes.

A

The Triple Entente- Formed in 1907 between Britian, Russia and France. This alliance was strategically in a better position as they encircled the countries in the Triple Alliance

The Triple Alliance- In 1883, Germany, Italy and Austria-Hungary entered into an agreement. Germany had been at war with France and feared further conflict. This alliance meant the 3 countries promised to defend each other if one of them was attacked

The Naval Race- To build an empire, Germany had to expand their naval to travel across the sea to other countries. This threatened Britain, who had the biggest navy in the world. Britain launched HMS Dreadnought in 1906, sparkling a naval race with Germany, who wanted to challenge Britain’s navy.
