A parasitic worm called Loa Loa, which is a nematode worm (roundworm).

How is it transmitted?
A
A bite from an infected of deerfly, also known as mango flies or mangrove flies of the genus Chrysops.

What is the symptoms?
A
- Eye worm can cause eye congestion, itching, pain, and light sensitivity.
- Calabar swellings (itchy, non-painful swelling)

How is it treated?
A
diethylcarbamazine, ivermectin, albendazole

What is the diagnosis?
A
During the daytime (10AM to 2PM) Giemsa-stained thin or thick blood smear.
