What is the cause?
A
A nematode called Dracunculus medinensis.

What is the transmission?
A
Consuming contiminated water, that contains copepods (small crustaceans) that are infected with larvae of D. medinensis.

What are the symptoms?
A
worm emerging from a skin blister, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fever, itching.

What is the treatment?
A
no drug or vaccine
*only an extraction of the adult worm
