is the process of organising the movement of goods from one part to the supply chain to one another to ensure that they are available for production when they are needed so that the product reaches to it customers in the right place at the right time
Supply chain operations
all the organisations and steps involved in producing a product and delivering it to the final consumer
Three roles of transportation
It brings goods from producers to final consumers
it increases employment
it makes available a wide variety of goods to consumers
Four activities
Transformation of natural resources- involves the manufacturing of raw materials
Movement and storage of raw materials - they must be moved into a secure location until needed
Storage of walk-in-progress and finished goods
Delivery of finished goods
