Localisation of brain function Flashcards
What is localisation of brain function
Refers to the principle that certain areas of the brain are responsible for specific functions - they have certain jobs or tasks to carry out
What is the left hemisphere specialised for
Analytical thinking, language and logic
What is the right hemisphere specialised for

Frontal lobe function
Thinking, creativity
Parietal lobe function
sensory info
temporal lobe
memory, language
occipital lobe
visual information
cerebellum
balance, equilibrium
Example in psychology?
Localisation of language: Paul Broca
What did Paul Broca do?
Studied 8 patients with language problems, examined brains after death and found damage in a specofoc area of the left hemisphere.
