What does a social worker do?
Work with older people, children at risk of abuse, people with disabilities, foster carers and adopters to make sure clients can live life independently and safely
What does a nurse do?
Performs a wide range of clinical and health care tasks such as taking blood, dressing wounds and measuring blood pressure in hospitals, nursing homes, GP surgeries and in the community
What does a doctor do?
Examine patients, diagnose illness and disease and prescribe and carry out treatment
What does a care assistant do?
Help people get showered and dressed and with other personal tasks. Move people around using hoists. Chat with and build a bond with residents
What does an activities coordinator do?
Organise social activities for people who need care and support and to encourage them to take part. Works in residential care homes or in day centres
What does an outreach worker do?
Provide advice and guidance on things such as drug and alcohol. Finding out about an individual’s situation and needs. Work in schools and youth centres as well as in the community with the police and homeless services
What does an occupational therapist do?
Work with individuals to support them with independent skills for everyday tasks. Helps clients continue with activities that are important to them
What does a counsellor do?
Counselling is talking therapy. Counsellors listen to individuals to help them find ways to deal with emotional issues
What does a dietitian do?
Educate individuals about nutrition, enabling them to make informed and practical decisions about their food choices. Can also work with unconscious patients in ICU
