What does meeting long-term needs mean?

A

A serious illness might mean someone requires medical and social care for the rest of their lives. Some services provide that care

A

Some needs are only temporary, like after an operation a person might need help to get dressed or to make meals. This will not be forever and once they have recovered the care will stop

A

Some people can’t really look after themselves and need support with daily living tasks. They might need to live somewhere where carers are always on hand to help them. An example would be a care home or sheltered accommodation.

A

A

Services that are intended to help individuals to live with dignity and independence in their community. Main aim is to allow people to stay living in their own home. The care comes to them.

Services that aim to improve or maintain an individual’s independence after and illness or an accident. Physiotherapy or speech and language therapy after a stroke, for example
