Sensitive information
- info that should be protected from being publicly released bc it could harm the safety or privacy of an organisation or an individual
e.g medical data
Non - sensitive information
-info that can be released publicly with no fear of negative consequence
e.g shop adresses
Private information
-info relating to an individual, should not be shared with anyone without permission. private info is protected by DPA and GDPR, need to be stored securely so cannot be accessed without authorisation
e.g home adresses, contact info
Public information
-released to the public and can therefore be seen by anyone = non- sensitive
e.g social media usernames, census
Personal information
-identifiable data about a specific individual
e.g full name, dob
Business information
-any info about a specific business, can be public or private
e.g annual sales figures, new projects
Confidential information
-private data that is more restricted than sensitive information with access limited to only those who need to know
e.g. doctor notes
Classified information
-highly sensitive information stored by a government institution, requiring the highest levels of restricted access. access is usually restricted by law and only viewable by authorised individuals or groups
e.g. military data
Anonymised information
-removes personally identifiable data from information so that an individual cannot be identified
e.g bank card details
Problems with anonymised data
-if sensitive data is not anonymised enough person can be identified
-useful info could be lost if too anonymised
