Advertising
Money from brands in return for their material being on pages or on screen during production, like product placement.
Corporate finance
Money from businesses willing to invest.
Franchising
Intellectual property of the product is licensed to other partners.
Crowdfunding
Funding raised through social media through networks such as Kickstarter. Offered incentives to pay more.
Sponsorship
Money paid for a brand to be associated with the final media product. For example, a ‘bumper’ at the start or end of adverts.
Subscriptions
An arrangement to receive something regularly which you pay for in advance, like a magazine.
What goes into finding a setting?
Location manager will scout, recces will take place for safety.
What are some examples of facilities?
Offices, sound stages, studios, catering, trailers for kit and crew.
What are some examples of logistics?
Deadlines, warehousing, inventory.
What are some examples of resources?
Personnel, mise-en-scene, computers, software.
What happens during a location scout?
Where and when you want to shoot on location.
What happens during a tech scout?
Involved with the power, noise and tech on location.
What personnel are involved in a tech scout?
Director, cinematographer, gaffer, sound guy, first A.D., producer

Right to control how your product is used by others.
Libel
Defamation - Cannot lie (written or broadcasted) which might damage their reputation.
Slander
Defamation - Same implications as Libel, false statement said aloud.
What does BBFC stand for?
British Board of Film Classification (Film regulation)

U, PG, 12, 12A, 15, 18, R18
What does Ofcom stand for?
Office of Communications (TV and Radio regulation)
How do Ofcom regulate?
The Broadcasting Code.
What is watershed?
At 9pm where anything not for kids can be included.
What does ASA stand for?
Advertising Standards Agency (Standardizing)
What does the ASA expect advertisers to follow?
BCAP (Broadcasting)/CAP (Codes of Advertising Practice).
What does the ASA and IPSO do?
Responds to complaints from the audience, to ban or ask for alterations to be made.
What does IPSO stand for?
Independent Press Standards Organisation (Newspapers and Magazine standardizing)
What does IPSO expect advertisers to follow?
The Editors Code.
What does W3C stand for?
Worldwide Web Consortium (Website regulation).
What does PEGI stand for?
Pan European Game Information (Video game regulation).

3, 7, 12,16,18

Offense of sexuality, gender and ethnicity.

Negative contributes online.
Incitement
Encouraging people to break the law.
Defamation
Saying something bad and false to damage someones reputation.

Gore, bad language, racism, etc.
Use of disturbing material
Words, language.
Negative representations of people or groups
Negative stereotypes to offend a group.
