PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTER
Broadcasting made, financed and controlled by the public, for the public. It is neither commercial nor state-owned, free from political inference and pressure from commercial forces, for example, BBC television or radio.
DAB
Digital audio broadcasting is an entirely new system for broadcasting and receiving radio stations. Signals are broadcast in a digital format to enable high production values, for example, BBC Radio.
DIGITAL CONVERGENCE
The ability to access various multi-media content from singular and multiple devices. Benefits- convergence is inexpensive, efficient and convenient with rapid access. Beneficial due to immediacy, where various mediums of media can be accessed instantly.
REGULATION
OFCOM has a statutory duty to represent the interests of citizens and consumers by promoting competition and protecting public from harmful and offensive material. The BBC has the power to monitor its own adherence to legal, ethical and safety standards. Ther is no external body and can maintain control over standards.
