Q

Gluteus Maximus

A

Origin: ilium, posterior gluteal line, dorsal surface of sacrum and coccyx, and sacrotuberous ligament

Insertion: iliotibial tract and gluteal tuberosity

Innvervation: inferior gluteal nerve (L5-S2)

Q

Gluteus medius

A

Origin: between anterior and posterior gluteal lines

Insertion: lateral surface of greater trochanter of the femur

Innervation: superior gluteal nerve (L4-S1)

Main action: Abducts femur at hip joint. Also keeps pelvis level when ipsilateral limb is WB. Anterior fibers: IR at hip
