Christian worship
Liturgical, set, regular prayer (Catholics). Non-liturgical, less formal, not set (Methodists). Eucharist/mass liturgical, Charismatic non-liturgical (music/tongues). Types include, liturgical, non-liturgical, private (solo liturgical), informal (solo non-liturgical).
Sacraments
Receive God’s power, RoP/ceremony. Protestant/non-conformist, baptism/Eucharist. Catholic, seven (baptism, Eucharist, marriage, anointing). Infant baptism, introduce Christianity (cleanse sin). Adult chooses whether or not (Baptist Church).
Prayer, purposes and types
Communicate with God. Purposes, adoration, confession, thanksgiving, petition. Set prayer (in Mass), informal (private), Lord’s Prayer (key beliefs). Different prayers fit different occasions. Different worship shows different denominations.
Pilgrimage
Religious journey, roots in Judaism, pilgrimage first seen at significant places (Bethlehem, Jerusalem), also where saints lived. Important places, Jerusalem IS, Iona UK (saints lived), Taize FR (meditation), Walsingham UK (Virgin Mary).
Celebrations including Christmas and Easter
Main, Christmas/Easter. Christmas, incarnation/birth, church services, meals, Advent countdown, helping others. Easter, crucifixion (Friday), resurrection (Sunday), services, faith in afterlife, Holy Week final week of Jesus.
Future of Church and Evangelism
Church responds to change by unity, converting to faith. Missionary, on mission (promote Christianity). Evangelism, spreading with missionaries, share faith and provide service. Locally (communal/services), nationally (conferences/events), globally (charity/foreigners).
Church in local community
Important, unity in community, support/comfort, advice from SoWA, identity/belonging. Center of Christian identity (bring community together, clubs/groups), Ecumenism (unite denominations), outreach (volunteering/counselling), worship (events/festivals/RoP).
Worldwide Church
All united worldwide (Christianity), identity/unity/support/teachings. Overcome persecution, Christian education. Teachings, compassion, helping others, equality, accountability for actions. Christian Aid, charity reducing poverty, compassion, respect, equality, accountability.
